If only it had four wheels instead of two

One of our regular Alaskan triahalons is flying/biking/hiking.  We have stored a dirt bike near a lake on Admirilty Island in the Tongass National Forrest.  Maybe 30 years ago, the Forrest Service gave permission to log within certain areas – and built rough gravel roads to give access. Deep Ditch Once the logging was completed, the roads were “ditched”  (to prevent wheeled traffic) and abandoned.  About the only people that still use most of these logging “roads” are people who have access by boat.  They use 4-wheelers.  We had to get our transportation over to the lake by small floatplane, and that limited us to a motorized dirt bike – as big as we could get and take apart and fit within the cabin of the airplane.  It has opened us up to a lot more territory – getting us to a place that we can then hike.  Two people on it is not the best, especially when I always straddle a rifle on my lap and a pack on my back, etc.  Two years ago, I broke my ankle going through a ditch too slowly.  These pictures will show you a lot better than what I can describe in words about the fun we have with this bike.  Going throuh ditch
